Clandestina is an independent contemporary art project founded in 2019. The exhibitions focus on presenting a body of work in which the artist allows the reading of a progression on his/her work through a selection of pieces that better incorporate the sources of that process. The structure of each show depends heavily on artist’ proposals and the integration of their work within the architecture as an active space. Recent curatorial projects include Present Tense by Omar Barquet, Patterns by Amor Muñoz, and Over the sun 13 by Monika Bravo which ran for several months during the pandemic lockdown at the Knoxon Motel, Miami.

Half-Cocked is a 1995 film that documented the DIY underground music scene in and around Louisville Kentucky in the early ’90’s. It was a vibrant, creative community that had a powerful impact on musicians around the world. This show will celebrate the art and the artists associated with that scene, then and now.
Shooting Blanks : The Art of Half-Cocked will feature work by the Half-Cocked filmmakers Suki Hawley & Michael Galinsky (RUMUR), as well as past and current work from the cast, crew and artists connected to the scene documented in the film. The exhibition will include screenings of Half-Cocked, other Rumur films, and a slideshow + Q&A on Galinsky’s photo book “Decline of Mall Civilization.”
In 1995, the Half-Cocked soundtrack was released on Matador Records. The cast included members of the bands: Rodan, The Sonora Pine, June of 44, Ruby Falls, LungFish, Slint, Nation of Ulysses, Shipping News, Boondoggle, The Grifters, Sleepyhead, Freakwater and Crain.
On display in the Houndstooth Cottage gallery space will be paintings, videos, photos, as well as artifacts from the making of the film.
